Key Responsibilities of Technical Sales Engineer
Onsite & Technical Support
- Assist with onsite management services, sampling, and general housekeeping
- Support experienced technicians during routine service visits and maintenance work
- Prepare equipment, materials, and documentation for onsite activities
- Carry out basic inspections and checks under supervision
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised working areas at customer sites
Customer Support & Relationship Building
- Act as a professional and approachable representative of the company onsite
- Build strong, positive relationships with customer personnel
- Communicate clearly with customers during service visits and escalate issues when required
- Help maintain long-term customer satisfaction through reliable service delivery
- Support the Fluid Management Coordinator when required
New Business Development
- Learn how onsite service contributes to customer retention
- Identify and report potential opportunities for additional products or services
- Support the conversion of opportunities into sales
- Provide feedback on customer needs, issues, or growth opportunities
- Update CRM systems to ensure opportunities are tracked and followed up efficiently
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Comply with customer site rules and safe working practices
- Report hazards, near misses, or incidents promptly
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required for a Technical Sales Engineer
Essential
- Strong willingness to learn and develop within a technical sales environment
- Interest in building commercial and customer-facing skills
- Good communication skills with a professional and positive attitude
- Comfortable working onsite in industrial environments
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or hands-on roles
- Customer-facing experience
- Basic mechanical or technical knowledge
