Role Overview
Seeking a skilled SolidWorks 3D Modeller with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering. The role involves designing and modelling complete system layouts, component assemblies, and infrastructure for CHP units, battery enclosures, and PV integrations. A strong eye for detail and a clear understanding of real-world applications are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities

Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks for mechanical, electrical, and structural components.

Develop detailed system layouts for energy infrastructure, including CHP, battery storage, and solar PV.

Produce general arrangement (GA), fabrication, and installation drawings for engineering and contractor use.

Collaborate with engineers to convert technical specifications into detailed models.

Maintain drawing control, versioning, and project documentation throughout the design process.

Participate in site surveys to gather accurate dimensions and reflect existing conditions.

Support the creation of manufacturing and assembly documentation such as BOMs, panel layouts, and ducting/piping routes.

Identify and implement design optimisations to improve efficiency, buildability, and serviceability.

Ensure all designs meet relevant health & safety regulations and engineering standards.
Essential Skills & Experience

Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD (minimum 2-3 years in a similar role).

Educational background in mechanical, electrical, or energy systems engineering (degree, HND, or equivalent).

Experience creating fabrication drawings and layouts for industrial or energy projects.

Strong understanding of tolerancing, materials, and mechanical fit in real-world assemblies.

Able to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.

Excellent attention to detail and a practical approach to design challenges.

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Desirable
-
Familiarity with low-carbon energy systems such as CHP, solar PV, or battery storage.

Knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, or modular/containerised unit design.

Understanding of RAMS and site-specific H&S requirements.

Experience with project planning software or BIM integration (advantageous but not essential).
