Venatu Recruitment Group are supporting our client to recruit a dynamic, proactive, and competent Project Manager to oversee new civil engineering projects with a focus on earthworks and remediation. Candidates should bring a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, with a background that demonstrates a clear progression from operational to management levels. You will be working on a large project near the M1 in Leeds and you will need experience of Remediation projects.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead responsibility for all health & safety matters on site.
•Manage, control, and coordinate all site operations, including labour and subcontractors.
•Conduct daily safe-start briefings and ensure full team awareness of daily objectives.
•Ensure RAMS are prepared, communicated, and permits are in place before work begins.
•Regularly monitor workforce, carry out plant checks, and maintain PUWER/LOLER compliance.
•Keep HAVS records up to date and log any accidents, near misses, or service strikes.
•Deliver work on time, on budget, and in line with quality and safety expectations.
•Maintain and update all build records in line with company procedures.
•Provide clear direction, leadership, and motivation to on-site teams.
•Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates.
•Adopt a continuous improvement mindset and implement best practices across projects.
Requirements
•Minimum 5 years' experience in a project management role in the civil engineering sector.
•Proven development history (e.g., Operative → Foreperson → Supervisor → PM).
•Preferably degree-qualified and/or holding a Level 6 NVQ in Construction Senior Management.
•Strong understanding of earthworks, contamination, and remediation techniques.
•In-depth knowledge of contaminated land, hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos), and NEC contracts.
•Solid awareness of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies.
•Proficiency in project management tools and reporting.
•Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
•SMSTS, First Aid, and a clean, professional safety record.
•Desirable: prior experience in groundworks or as a plant operator.
