7.5 Tonne Driver – Scunthorpe

The Role

We are recruiting a dependable and hard-working 7.5T Driver to support a local environmental services operation in Scunthorpe. This is a physically active role combining driving with hands-on work in residential streets.

You will be responsible for delivering replacement household bins to properties and collecting old bins for return. 

This is not a multi-drop courier role — routes are planned and local, allowing you to work methodically and safely while providing a professional service to residents.

You will normally work with loaders, although some tasks may be carried out independently.

Day-to-Day Duties

• Conduct pre-use vehicle safety inspections and defect reporting

• Drive a 7.5T box vehicle on local residential routes

• Load bins onto the vehicle safely using correct manual handling techniques

• Deliver new bins to households in accordance with daily job sheets

• Collect old or damaged bins from properties

• Secure loads correctly to prevent movement or damage

• Complete delivery/collection paperwork or handheld device records

• Work safely around pedestrians, parked cars and narrow residential roads

• Maintain a polite and professional manner with members of the public

• Return vehicle and equipment clean and tidy at end of shift

Pay & Hours

• £14.50 per hour

• Monday to Friday

  • Monday–Thursday: 7.5 hours per day

  • Friday: 7 hours

• Overtime available during busy periods

• Weekly pay (every Friday)

• No weekend work

• Consistent start times

Requirements

• Valid UK 7.5T (C1) licence

• In-date Driver CPC qualification

• Digital Tachograph Card

• Good knowledge of UK road safety and driving regulations

• Comfortable driving in residential streets and tight spaces

• Physically fit — regular lifting, pulling and moving of bins required

• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Good timekeeping and reliability

• Professional attitude when dealing with the public
