A well-established engineering and company in the Wakefield area is seeking a skilled Fabricator to join its workshop team. This role involves manufacturing bespoke frames, fabricated assemblies, and precision components while maintaining excellent standards of quality, safety, and workmanship.
Working Hours of a Fabricator

Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30

Friday: 08:00 – 15:15

37.5 hours per week
Pay & Benefits

£16.50 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Overtime paid at time and a half for hours worked over 37.5 per week
Key Responsibilities of a Fabricator
-
Read and interpret engineering drawings to manufacture bespoke fabricated parts and machine frames

Produce components to specified tolerances and surface finish requirements
-
Fabricate and weld a variety of materials, including stainless steel, to a high standard

Operate MIG and TIG welding equipment safely and efficiently
-
Use workshop machinery such as press brakes and guillotines where required
-
Upload and review drawings through the operator terminal where necessary
-
Ensure production schedules and deadlines are achieved

Maintain strong quality standards throughout the fabrication process

Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe

Communicate with production coordination staff regarding project requirements and priorities
-
Follow company procedures relating to Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards
-
Wear appropriate PPE and comply with risk assessments and safe working procedures
-
Report any accidents, hazards, or safety concerns to the appropriate manager
-
Ensure correct disposal and segregation of waste materials
-
Work collaboratively with other departments to support successful project delivery

Carry out additional duties as reasonably required
Qualifications
-
City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in fabrication or a related engineering discipline (desirable)
Skills & Experience Required for a Fabricator

Previous experience in fabrication and welding within an engineering or manufacturing environment

Strong MIG and TIG welding capability
-
Experience working with stainless steel and producing high-quality finished components

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings accurately

Experience operating press brakes and guillotines would be beneficial

Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment

Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
