Transport Coordinator

Job Purpose:

  • Organisation and cost-effective control of transport of outgoing goods to customers meeting all sales standards listed within company procedures
  • Effective use of hauliers
  • Cost negotiation of bulk and packed goods ensuring satisfactory rates and appropriate quality of hauliers used
  • Utilising usage of Corner transport advice helpline and Chamber of Commerce making sure all legislative requirements are meet
  • Close attention to import and export of goods (especially hazardous goods)
  • Completing necessary shipping and export documentation in line with current legislation eg. Certificates of origin, letters of credit etc.
  • Responsibility for collection of world-wide goods maintaining appropriate time purchase order allowance for delivery of orders to site or customers
  • Detailed management of transport spreadsheet ensuring accuracy of transport cost
  • Processing transport invoices along with transport booking costs
  • Attending daily planning meetings to ensure effective flow of transport information and requirements
  • Maximising time effective performance to internal and external customers
  • Accurate communication of information to Production Manager and Warehouse operator allowing time for order picking, loading, and preparing tankers
  • Keeping up to date transport information (transport whiteboards and booking forms, transport spreadsheets and hauliers’ information)
  • Logistic Department cover required for holidays/sickness etc.
  • Assistance with purchasing by placing, chasing PO’s and PO related queries
  • Administrative support within, company team, engineering, production, and sales department

Duties:

  • Responsibility for distribution of accurate, controlled records and documentation within company quality team
  • Effective usage of Change Control System
  • Operating within company Quality Statement
  • Ensuring up to date H&S and Welfare at Work systems are in place ensuring all statutory requirements and policies are fully meet.
  • Making sure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to and in line with statutory requirements
